Feeling Frisky...

Someone awoke from his nap feeling a bit frisky-or sniffly. I was sitting here typing and I heard CRASH! "That's not good" I thought..."but no crying" I also thought. Here it is.

Another photo...just for kicks

Just another photo I liked and thought I'd share...couldn't get it to go on the other post.

Mr. Independance

Our little boy is turning into "Mister Independance" lately. He wants up, he wants down. He wants up, he wants down. The plane ride to San Diego is going to be just fabulous! I'm sure we'll be the most popular people on the plane!

Oh I almost forgot another bad mommy story. I noticed that Brighton's pants were looking a little funny the other day but didn't concern myself with it. Then I went to change his diaper... oops.

Brighton has started so many new things lately. He shimmy's off the bed. Grammy taught him how to get down the stairs safely, which is wonderful! But now he's using that to worm his way off EVERYTHING! The bed, the couch, our laps, the chair...you name it. shimmy shimmy. He now wakes up in the morning and takes the initiative to shimmy off the bed himself, then do his morning squats to play peek with his still sleepy mommy. He even tries this in his stroller.

Here he is demonstrating the

to drink from a sippy cup.

Another busy week!

Another busy week in the O house.
Monday Brighton finally had his 12 month check up (he's really closer to 13 months but oh well). He was still in the 10th percentile for his head size, but his height jumped up from the 10th percentile (27" @ 9 months) to the 50th percentile (30 inches) at his 12 (13) month check up. His weight was I think in the 25th percentile at 20 lbs and .5 ounce. Brighton got great marks at his doctor's appointment. She's very happy that he's eating everything that we're eating, drinking some milk, doesn't use a bottle anymore at all, extremely mobile - cruising but not walking just yet - and basically doing everything he should be doing. She wasn't concerned about the whole chicken pox thing, so she went head and gave him the vaccination. I think he ran a bit of a fever the next two days after that but is fine now. So far, no pox...keep your fingers crossed. So dad is excited that he can turn his carseat around in his car. That is, if his car was running...***WARNING! RANT UP AHEAD AVOID THE NEXT PARAGRAPH IN RED IF YOU DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT!*** yeah, his car pooped out on us again. There is some kind of short between the battery and well, the rest of the car. It's just a piece of crap. We'll never EVER buy a GM product again (sorry Sal & Tom). It's been one thing after another with that piece of crap. Maybe it's an Oldsmobile thing. I'm sure glad we spent $7000.00 to pay the piece of CRAP off! ANYWAY. That's another story we don't want to get into right now. Once we get our house and get settled in to our payments and any extra bills we will inevitably accumulate, I need to talk my husband into trading that sheiteola car off and getting a Honda or Toyota used vehicle. Moving on. Sorry about that rant...

Update on the House Situation:
We haven't had any offers on our house yet. Bummer. The auction for the house we're buying is July 9 and they'll want to settle the estate fairly quickly I'm sure. So that ever looming double payment is giving me heart palipitations. I just HATE to think of that. If worse comes to worse, we can rent our place out - possibly to the neighbors who want to move out of the house they're in. But there's been no talk of any of that at this point. Though I did put the bug in their ear the other day when Bright was swimming. Who knows.

Then we're off to SAN DIEGO! YEAH! We're having someone come and doggie sit while we take off to sunny San Diego. Andrew has a work trip there, and so Brighton and I are tagging along. All we have to pay for is our ticket and our food. Otherwise, the hotel is paid for by his company, and if we can't stay in the hotel for the weekend, my friend Jill offered to let us stay there. It will be so nice to see where she lives finally! Jill and I have been friends (well off and on right Jill?) since at least 5th grade (I'm not revealing the amount of years that is, but I will say we graduated in 1992 - you do the math!)

Anyway, I'm so excited to see the city everyone covets. Although, I have to be honest. I'm a bit scared that I'll be the fattest girl in San Diego. I know it shouldn't bother me but it really really does. I'm trying to lose weight and all, but I'll never lose that 90 pounds before July 16...Unless...I get a boob job...That might take care of a good 15 pounds....hmmmm Just kidding. Brighton is still nursing so I can't do that.

Well all, I should get going. Andrew is busy cleaning the garage, and I think IM going to get ready to go for a walk with my little guy as soon as he wakes up. Have a great day!

Scary Monday

Brighton and I had his 12 month doctor appointment yesterday. All went well, however, he may have been exposed to chicken pox, albiet a very light case. Dr. didn't feel worried about giving him the vaccination and we both are hoping that will help stimulate his immune response and if he does get it, he'll get a mild case. I just hope it's before our trip to San Diego!

Dad had a pretty good Father's Day. First thing in the morning, Brighton rolled over, gently touched Andrew's arm and said "dha-ddy". Andrew was still sound alseep, but mom heard it. And of course, hasn't said it since. It was the sweetest thing ever. We have the sweetest boy.

Brighton and I went to visit the neighbors, Nicole and John, yesterday to see how her baby shower went. They were both in their pool and as I stood there trying to have a conversation, I could barely keep Brighton out of the water! So John and Nicole invited him to come swimming. "OK" I said, and went to get his swim diaper and suit on. He had a lot of fun, until he stuck his face in the water and breathed in. At the time, I wasn't terribly worried though he had a horrible panic look on his face and couldn't breathe for a few seconds. But eventually he stopped panicking and took a deep breath then a big cough and was ok and wanted back in. Needless to say, that (and heartburn) is what is waking me up this morning. I don't ever want to see that look on his little face again ever. The thought of what COULD have gone wrong terrifies me. And what if he did that at home in the dog dish or the toilet? Dr. and I just talked about that this morning too. We both decided it was time for a toilet lock or to just keep the bathroom door closed (we usually do anyway). Anyhow, he did have fun, but I'm definitely going to be a lot more cautious even though there wasn't anything we could do about what happened yesterday aside from just keeping him out of the water, which I don't think is going to happen. I'm just hoping that now that I got this fear out to the universe I can go back to sleep for a couple hours. Resting in the comfort that my baby is safe and sound asleep in bed, where I should be at 4:30 AM.

My First REAL word! And Quacamole

Yesterday Brighton tried mom's version of quacamole for lunch. Mashed avacado with plain yogurt and a splash of lime. No spices no tomato. Here is his response...

Another milestone yesterday. Much to our shagrin, Brighton's first word isn't "mommy" or "daddy" but "Kitty". :) He's said mommy and what sounds like daddy, but we're not sure he knew what he was saying. But yesterday morning he woke up, saw the cat and said "khkit-tty" (the "kh" is much like the H in hebrew - glutteral as in Channakuh). Then this morning I swear he said "pup-py" but he wouldn't repeat it. But he did say Khkitty again!

He also likes to make a new sound where he holds his breath and squeaks out some sounds. Like he's making a bowel movement (he's not - we've checked). Then you think he's choking (He's not - we've checked that too). Ah....My sweet boy is growing up.

Today Bright is going to Grammy Mary's while I go for a massage and reiki. Then I'm going to watch my nieces and nephew from about 1:45 to 2:30. So my reiki and massage I'm sure will be in vain but I'm doing it anyway...

Have a great day!

Beautiful Day to catch some Zzzzzz's

While Mr. Brighton is sleeping, I thought I'd quick update his blog. He has a new love, his stuffed monkey. It helps me out a lot because then I don't have to stay laying with him when I put him down for a nap. Instead of hugging his "teddy boob" he can hug his silly monkey. The best $8.50 I've ever spent!

He is making new discoveries every day. A couple weeks ago, we saw signs of him beginning to "climb" everything. Once his activity center was out of the table it came in, he figured out that he could climb into it and sit in it and look out the window. He's also discovered that playing with his trucks and cars in the windowsill is great fun and the best track. Much better than carpet. Then last week while we were putting clothes away and picking up his room, he figured out that he could take the wipes out of the basket that they're stored in and climb in the basket to look out the window. Though we're not encouraging this behavior (because he often likes to stand on these makeshift ladders) we have to admit, he's a very imaginative and smart boy. :) of course, we're not biased at all. Yesterday he spent the day at grammies so Dad and Mom could go to "Whad'ya know?" at Hancher in IC. Grammie taught him how to safely, or at least not head first, climb down the steps. I know that he caught on because that's how he tried to escape from bed this morning.

Today we're waiting for the Real Estate Agent to come (he's to be here at around 10 AM) and then we're going to transfer the fish into the outside pond, then we're off to IC for the Art Festival. If I can find an umbrella for his wagon, we'll take that. Otherwise, he gets to sit in his stroller. So far, it's a beautiful day and we have left the AC off. We were going to pack a picnic lunch, but we have no bread for sandwiches and no fruit. So we'll just purchase something there. Unless I get creative which isn't likely to happen since it's 9:48 and I still have to brush my teeth and put a bra on before the Real Estate Agent gets here. Speaking of which, I'd better head out. Hope your weekend was as fun filled as ours!
